This method is suitable for the determination of the total mesophilic bacteria levels in refined sugars.
The method utilises two possible procedures, using either a pour plate technique (better for coloured sugars and higher levels of bacteria) or a filtration through a sterile membrane filter.
Samples are incubated between 20 °C and 45 °C.
