Description

Carbohydrates (glucose, fructose and sucrose) are determined using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) on cation exchange resin.

The method is suitable for the analysis of sucrose, glucose and fructose in cane molasses and for determining sucrose in beet molasses.

If a choice is available to the user for the Determination of Glucose, Fructose and Sucrose in Molasses then ICUMSA recommends that Method G7/4/3-22 (GC) is used preferentially.

The absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions for each sugar is:
sucrose 0.8 g/100 g
glucose 0.3 g/100 g
fructose 0.3 g/100 g
The absolute difference between two results obtained under reproducibility conditions for each sugar is:
sucrose 1.5 g/100 g
glucose 0.8 g/100 g
fructose 0.8 g/100 g
