This method is suitable for the enumeration of thermophilic spore-forming bacteria in refined sugars.
The method utilises two possible procedures, using either a pour plate technique (better for coloured sugars and higher levels of bacteria) or a filtration through a sterile membrane filter.
Samples are incubated at 55 °C for (48 to 72) hours.
