Description

This method is used to determine the particle size distribution of white and plantation white sugars by sieving.

A stack of woven wire sieves with differing pore sizes is used to separate the sugar crystals by size. Each fraction is then weighed to determine the size distribution and from this the mean aperture (MA) and coefficient of variation (CV) can be calculated.
