Description
Formerly: Polarimetric Sucrose content of Sugar Beet by the Macerator or Cold Aqueous Digestion Method using Aluminium Sulphate as Clarifying Agent – Official
This Method is applicable to freshly produced and/or frozen sugar beet brei for the determination of polarimetric sucrose content. Polarimetry is used to measure the sucrose content of a brei sample solution after clarification with aluminium sulphate. Beet brei samples may be produced from harvested sugar beet or comminuted cossettes. This Method may form the basis of sugar beet purchasing contracts. For sugar beet of average polarimetric sucrose content of 17.7 °Z (16.8 °Z to 18.7 °Z) the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should be not greater than 0.3 °Z and under reproducibility conditions should be not greater than 0.5 °Z.
