The Sugar Association and the Refined Sugar Assiociation were founded in the late 19th for the purpose of establishing the Rules and Regulations required for the proper conduct of the Sugar Trade in the United Kingdom and International Markets. Today the Association‘s Rules are accepted internationally as standard contract Rules and are used by the majority of the International companies trading in raw and white sugar.
The objectives of the Associations are to provide for:
– Proper conduct of the raw and white sugar trade.
– Framing of rules and contract conditions connected therewith.
– Provision of arbitrators for the settlement of disputes by commercial arbitration.
– Support and protection of the interests of the members and the sugar trade in general.
– Assessment of contract losses when requested by members and their insurers to do so.
