Fluidized-bed technology for production of preserving sugar

The new preserving (jellifying) sugar plant in the Uelzen factory of Nordzucker AG provided evidence that fluidized-bed technology is a highly suitable means for drying and cooling, as well as for agglomeration of additives and coating with sticky liquids. An essential quality feature of the new preserving sugar produced is its high resistance to abrasion in conjunction with a high de-mixing stability and a minimum percentage of fines.

Apart from particle coarsening by agglomeration, separation of dust, or product conditioning by sealing the particle surfaces, there are a number of other conceivable applications of the fluidized-bed technology for special products.
