Trials on the use of Poly-Aluminium Chloride (PAC) as a clarifying reagent for polarimetric sucrose analysis have been carried out. The results showed that the polarimetric sucrose content and the filtration time of juice clarified by PAC and basic lead acetate were not significantly different. PAC can also be used to analyze cane juices which contain up to 0.8% dextrans on dry substance. The use of PAC for other sugar factory products is described.
