The 2021 campaign in Europe

The 2021/22 beet campaign in the European Union was the best campaign since the record campaign of 2017/18. In most European factories it began earlier and lasted longer than usual. The EU put sugar production at 16.63mnt in 2021/22. This is 2.08mnt or 14.3% higher than last year’s production of 14.55mnt. This paper describes the beet sugar campaign in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Austria and Poland in respect to climate, beet area, yields, production, campaign length and investments.
