The beet sugar factory Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Coop. in Renville, Minnesota, USA, was built in 1975 for a plant capacity of 6,000 sht/d. The daily slicing capacity has grown to 9,500 sht intermediate.

The factory cooperative began a massive expansion project in 1999. The whole modernization is realized in several stages because of the short periods between campaigns. The modernization comprises beet end installations, sugar end installations, waste water treatment and thick juice storage.
