After having considered the theoretical fundamentals concerning sugar conditioning, the authors discuss the theoretical equilibrium isothermes and the reliability of the maximum allowable relative hu midity parameter. Moisture characteristics and grain sizes of sugar to be conditioned in the silos are described.
Results of experiments carried out at 20°C on sugar samples stored in different relative humidity conditions, show the dependence of the moisture adsorbed by the sugar samples on their ash contents. The trends of the experimental curves of relative humidities against sugar moistures show a strict accordance with the theory. On discussing the experimental data, equations are set up for the best drawing of the isothermes.
