ÉVOLUTION DES PERTES DE SUCRE AU COURS DE LA CONSERVATION DES BETTERAVES

Tests on the preservation of sugar beets have alio wed1 the working out of some methods to measure the losses with an accuracy of 1 to 3 %.

Some methods are better suited for the storage of clean beets and some others for the storage of beets with high dirt tare. The advantages and the disadvantages of all these methods are given in detail.

Many measures of losses have been made by using the described methods while the action of the principal factors was specified. They pointed out the high variability of the daily losses according to the storage conditions : time, temperature, dirt tare, leaves and grass, handling, shape of the silos, etc…
