Bioethanol – a Südzucker project

Bioethanol and biodiesel are at this point the only available and explored biogenic fuels for the transport sector. The production of bioethanol in Europe serves our agriculture and strengthens the position of the European Union in the World Trade Organization. Regional production of bioethanol guarantees employment in agriculture and in rural areas. The production of bioethanol and its use in the transport sector benefit the environment. The steam pressure variation in mixtures of bioethanol and petrol must be reflected in regulations in such a way that bioethanol has a realistic chance in the market as a biofuel.

Under these circumstances, Südzucker believes that through the measures presented and through co-operation with the agricultural, automobile and oil industries the environmental objectives of the EU’s Kyoto commitments can be achieved timely and cost-effectively.
