Properties of the Beet Pulp Fiber Components during Mechanical Dewatering and Possibilities for Further Development of Pulp Presses

The influence of the ionogenic loading of fiber components of beet pulp on the pressability and the influence of the pH-value on the attainable solids content, the press throughput and pulp stability is described. The results given in respect to the amount of pulp, the pulp destruction and specific consumption of electrical energy show possibilities of further development of the single and double screw presses. Higher solids contents in pressed pulp and a lower specific electrical consumption seem possible. On the basis of experimental results possible developments of the high pressure thin layer pressing technique are discussed.
