The course of the first campaign in 1993/94 of the Könnern factory of Diamant-Zucker-Fabriken confirmed the correctness of the basic design of all process stations. This report of the campaign focuses on those sections of the plant which provided new insights and, in this context, on the particular engineering and technological features encountered during production. The information on length of campaign, beet slice, processing performance, and white sugar output is supplemented by detailed data on the processing of frost-damaged beets, the consequent problems and how these were resolved. Typical results of various process stations and systems round off the report.
