Reconstruction of the screening and dispatch facility of the Wevelinghoven sugar factory Manufacture of customized grain sizes by new process management

Reconstruction of a screening and dispatch facility in existing cramped quarters posed the task of installing high performance compact screening equipment which was to deliver as many size fractions as possible. The products for sale are mixed from the various fractions in accordance with customer specifications. To achieve consistent quality in the mixtures, the bins holding the different screen fractions were designed for mass flow. A new concept was employed to control dispatch and mixing of the fractions. Initial results show that the optimal layout of the transport elements ensures gentle handling of the sugar crystals.
