Czech continuous evaporating crystallizer

The Research Institute of the Sugar Industry in Prague (VUC Praha, a.s.) has developed a continuous evaporating crystallizer. VUC together with the food machine factory ZVU Hradec Kralove today produces a range of continuous evaporating crystallizers. The equipment is a horizontal cylindrical vessel and has comparable design parameters to competitive equipment. The prototype, called KNK 16, has been operational for C-massecuites in the Dobrovice sugar factory since 1989. The KNK 16 has a capacity 16 t/h of B-massecuite and 7 t/h of C-massecuites. The process control system was developed in two stages. The first was carried out with a TNS-TC computer and the second with Yokogawa or SattControl computer. Results are given of measurements of mass flows, composition of seed magma, produced sugar, heat balance and crystal growth for B- and C-massecuites.
