Efficacy and timing of CONVISO® ONE (foramsulfuron + thiencarbazone-methyl) application for weed control in sugar beet

This paper summarises the current state of knowledge on efficacy of the herbicide Conviso One (active ingredients: foramsulfuron and thiencarbazone-methyl, both ALS-inhibitors) in sugar beet cultivation. The results published to date show high efficacy even at higher developmental stages of the weeds in comparison to the use of current herbicides. The limiting factor is the developmental stage of Chenopodium album, which can be effectively controlled up to BBCH 14. Furthermore, soil activity lasts ca. 15 days enabling a prolonged interval between applications. Conviso One has high efficacy against some troublesome weeds such as Mercurialis annua or volunteer potatoes (Solanum tuberosum) and is also able to control grass weeds. Spraying sequences and/or tank mixes of current herbicides and Conviso One achieved highest efficacy under various environmental conditions. They should be preferred to solo applications due to the high risk of resistance development in both active ingredients.
