Proaño has accepted this position upon the announcement of Robert Sinnard Jr.’s retirement at the end of 2024. Sinnard joined Western States Machine Company as Director of Sales and Marketing in January 2012 and accepted the position of President and CEO in 2016. He has dedicated his time at Western States to building a top-rated internal team, able to meet stringent production demands and to work diligently to exceed customer expectations. Sinnard has been instrumental in rebuilding Western States’ reputation as the leader in centrifugal manufacturing for the sugar industry, proudly strengthening key relationships with major customers through his exhaustive efforts to improve Western States’ deliverables. Sinnard adds, “Western States is set to soar over the next decade and is now positioned as the top separation company that specializes in excellent service and support. Angel Proaño is the leader Western States needs to continue this trajectory.”

“Bob Sinnard has been a superlative chief executive officer for Western States. We congratulate him on his record of accomplishment at Western States and wish him all the best during his well-earned retirement,” said Gerold Libby, Chairman of the Board at Western States. “Angel Proaño has been instrumental in the dramatic growth of Western States’ sales, both domestic as well as international,” said Libby. “His deep understanding of the U.S. and international sugar manufacturing industry will enable Western States to maintain its primacy in the sugar industry, and we are excited to be entering the next chapter in Western States’ remarkable story.”

Proaño brought improved quality techniques, global industry knowledge, and business acumen to his previous role for Western States as the Director of Sales and Marketing. He successfully increased revenue, developed new business ventures in a new botanical sector, and strengthened the Western States name in the sugar industry.

“Proaño’s vision for the company centers around embracing advanced technology and fostering a culture of innovation. His commitment to customer satisfaction and strengthening relationships aligns perfectly with Western States’ core values, making him an excellent cultural fit for the organization,” concludes Sinnard.

Western States is the only remaining United States-based sugar centrifuge/centrifugal manufacturer. Brand names include Western States, Roberts Centrifugals, and TITAN. While Western States was founded in 1917 to develop and manufacture improvements for centrifugals in the sugar industry, the company has grown to become a global supplier for the sugar, chem/pharma, and now botanical industries, with more than 6,000 centrifugals installed world-wide.
