Tender of Mauritanian Sugar and Derivates Company

Mauritanian Sugar and Derivatives Company (COMASUD), with the support of the Public-Private Partnership Directorate of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development (MEDD), has launched a tender for a competitive dialogue preceded by a prequalification to select a private operator for the creation and operation, through a Public-Private Partnership, of an Agro-Industrial Sugar Production Complex in Foum Gleita.

Project overview:

The agro-industrial sugar production complex project will cover a total land area of 17,000 hectares. It includes the following two components :

 

  • an agricultural component including the establishment of an efficient irrigation system and the production of sugar cane on an irrigated area of 8,000 hectares and,
  • an industrial component which includes the installation of a factory with a capacity of 5,000 TC/day, which will produce approximately 106,000 tons of refined white sugar per year. The production of electricity and various derivatives (ethanol, livestock feed, fertilizers, etc.) is also planned
  • Scope of the private operator The holder of the PPP contract will be in charge of the design, financing, construction, operation and upkeep and maintenance of the project.
